Gaia - Public Parks and Lakes

Despite the lack of adequate funding, the public parks in Malaysia are pretty well maintained. (Hint, hint: Any corporate sponsors willing to donate money to the parks? In return, we can give you acknowledgement and publicity... I'm looking forward to having a Goldman Sachs Park, JP Morgan Park, Rockerfeller Park, Rothschild Park, or Sanofi-Pasteur Park here in Malaysia 8). Here are some improvements that I can think of:

- We have plentiful of sunlight, which makes our lakes very green with plentiful of algae. Why not harvest these algae to be used as natural fertilizer, and to be decomposed to generate methane for fuel and electricity, or even converted to gasoline and ethanol directly?

- The soil in the parks are mostly sandy and poor in nutrients. And yet, when we cut the grass, and clear the leave droppings, we throw them all away! What a waste!!!! It takes the plants a lot of time and effort, and sunlight, water, and the air (nitrogen, carbon dioxide) to create rich plant matter, and yet we throw them all away!!! Why not mix them with the soil to make them richer, or to have a simple composting facility (a few big bins would suffice) to create natural fertilizer from the plant waste???

- Why not grow vegetables, edible herbs, and fruits in these parks also? And to put in edible fish, prawns, mussels, and water vegetables into the lakes. Not only will we have something nice to see, we will also have something to eat then too. It also helps to preserve genetic diversity, as the parks will hold natural pools of these life-saving crops and life for the citizens to benefit from then. It might be a good idea to have some wild chickens, ducks and possibly cows roaming around naturally too.
